In Memoriam Former SecGen BG Marcel de Haan

With great sadness we have to inform that Brigadier General Marcel de Haan, Royal Netherlands Army Reserve (ret.) passed away on Sept 16th, aged 83.

Brigadier General de Haan was CIOMR Secretary General from 1983 to 1993 and took his official leave from CIOMR during the Berlin Congress 2000.

CIOMR votes new constitution and bylaws

At the Summer Congress in Istanbul, the CIOMR Executive Committee has approved the new constitution and bylaws prepared by LtCol Bruno Pelletier (FRA), MG Donna Barbisch (USA) and Maj Tine Zetterstrøm (DNK).

Major change in the constitution is the transformation of the First Aid Committee into Operational Medicine Committee.

The SOPs of the Committees have now to be adapted to the new constitution within one year.

NEW CALL !! Visit to the TAF Rehabilitation and Care Centre (Ankara)

At the occasion of the CIOMR Summer Congress in Istanbul a pre-meeting visit will be scheduled from Istanbul to the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) Rehabilitation and Care Centre in Ankara on Monday 07 July 2008.

The Turkish General Staff, TAF Medical Command and GATA Military Hospital and Academy have been preparing very intensively on the preparations of this trip.

They want to share experiences with their allies and friends on the medical, social,...etc. support to disabled soldiers who suffered during the fight against terrorism

CIOMR Gold Medal awarded to Col (R) Christian Le Roux

At the Summer Congress in Riga (LVA) the CIOMR Gold Medal has been awarded to Col (R) Christian Le Roux, M.D., FRA MS, for his dedication and relentless engagement to CIOMR, especially as National Vice President for France, Vice Chairman of the First Aid Committee, member of the Audit Committee and co-organizer of the Summer Congress in Paris (1991) and Strasbourg (2002) and for his numerous scientific presentations.

 

New Secretary General from Germany

At the CIOMR Summer Congress in Riga (LVA) Col Lewis Neace, MD, USA AFR has been reelected for a last two-year term as assistant-secretary general. Lt Col (R) Francis Vanden Eynde, a.i. treasurer, has been elected for a two year term as treasurer.

At the end of the Congress Col Gunter Rütter, MD, has taken over from Lt Col Bruno Pelletier, DVM, as secretary general of CIOMR.

New Estonian National Vice President

CIOMR welcomes again Capt (R) Tiit MEREN, M.D. as Estonian National Vice President.

He was the first Estonian National Vice President of CIOMR, switched temporarily to CIOR and succeeds now Lt (R) Jaan KIRSS, M.D. as National Vice President.

 

High distinction conferred to CIOMR SecGen

Wednesday 04 July 2007 - Paris

The CIOMR SecGen Lt Col (R) Bruno Pelletier, D.V.M., has been conferred the second highest national French distinction, Knight in the National Order of Merit (Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite). The Order is awarded to French nationals for distinguished civil and military achievements.

(Also called Früh Sommer Meningo- Encephalitis (FSME))

At the same time all CIOMR functions will get now a ciomr.org e-mail address.

CIOMR to review its constitution

The CIOMR Constitution states in article XIV that at intervals of five years a special committee is to be appointed to review the Constitution. It will be chaired by the President Designate, Lt Col Bruno PELLETIER.

Three to four Vice Presidents are requested to volunteer to work on the updates. Maj Tine ZETTERSTRØM (DNK) and MG Donna BARBISCH (USA) volunteered already at the MWM 2007.

National Vice Presidents are asked to submit proposals for articles to amend to the Secretay General by the Summer Congress in Riga.
